Electric Vehicle Chargers

In addition to reducing CO2 emissions, electric vehicles (EV's) are also creating exciting advantages for backup power and cost savings for homes and commercial buildings.

  1. Electricity Cost reduction - the battery of the truck can be used to supply some of the local electrical needs while the normal electrical supply from NB Power is still connected.  The EV battery is a 2nd energy source connected in parallel with the NB Power supply which requires engineering and approval from NB Power.
  2. Emergency Backup Power - the battery of the vehicle can be used similar to a backup generator when the normal supply from NB Power is lost.   This requires that the electrical service be equipped with an automatic disconnect or 'transfer switch' that will automatically disconnect the wires from the normal supply so that the energy from the truck does not try to power the electrical utility grid causing hazards on the larger grid.   It also requires technology to detect that the normal electricity supply from has recovered and switch the normal electrical supply back on.   This equipment and installation also requires CSA approval and electrical supply authority approval.
  3. The above installations can also be combined with solar panels and other green energy solutions to reduce energy costs.

These installations require CSA approved equipment and must be performed according to CSA, Canadian Electrical Code, and electrical utility standards and regulations.
The engineers, technologists and electricians at Power Precision are experienced at connecting parallel and backup energy sources to the electricity grid.   Power Precision has built and installed protection and control systems for generators ranging from 400 KW to 2000 KW.   View our projects at the links to our website below.
